Resolutions - Week 2 (50 More to go!)

So, it's week two in the new year.  My eyes and ears are open and I'm not liking what is happening.  I am afraid that my mouth will also be opening soon, too.  Life is fleeting and sometimes one just needs to grab the bull by the horns (or balls) as it were, and make a decision.  Weighing pros and cons and mental health.   I don't mean to be mysterious but I am not at liberty to say more at this time.  Just know I am muddling through some shit.

Daughter is in Mexico researching for her next book.  I admire (or as she used to say as a toddler, "egmire") her follow through and tenacity; her ability to make things happen and the fact that she is tougher than anyone else I know.  But as her mother, I do know her questioning and softer sides of her, too.  She is a bundle of amazingness...I am so proud to be her mother.  My words are not unique...every mother feels the same about her brood.  I know that, but it is not going to stop me from speaking my heart.

Had my mammogram this week and got an all clear.  Does it stop the worry?  Do you have any clue how many women get an all clear and then develop cancer anyway?  No guarantees.  Anywhere.  Ever.

I am so excited to hopefully be snowed in this afternoon.  Going to make some chicken vegetable soup, do a little more paperwork & then rest and read.  Housework will wait until tomorrow and Monday.

I leave you with this    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smEqnnklfYs

I also have a dream.

Lose 15 pounds…. Based on my goal weight, I still need to lose 15 pounds.  What can I say?  I have a sweet tooth.  I have a salty and savory tooth.  I enjoy eating.

Start doing some form of the e-word.  Nope

Sell this home and find a new one.  Praying on this.

Decorate new place with some new furnishings and be in love with it.  Can’t do this until we sell.

Continue packing up the house.  Yes!

Have big tag sale in the Spring.  Yes!

Read a minimum of 100 books, about two per week.

1. City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert… 3* predictable but enjoyable
2. Bookish Life of Nina Hill by Abbi Waxman… 3* easy reading but junior high-ish; read   for on-line book club.
3. The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison… 4* found this to be very sad
4. Too Many Men by Lily Brett * In process
5. Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal.    In process
6.  Eat Joy - Stories & Comfort Food edited by Natalie Garrett  Essays by literary writers with their story and comfort foods, each with a recipe.  5* Recipes didn’t interest me much, but the essays did.
7. Now and Again by Julia Turshen Cookbook with menus, recipes and then ideas of what to do with the leftovers.  3* Garnered a couple of recipes from here.
8.  Smitten Kitchen Every Day:  triumphant & Unfussy new Favorites by Deb Perelman 3* Copied a few recipes from this one, too.

Try 50 new recipes.  (i.e. pickled eggplant, jams, jellies, challah, pasta)

 1. Stir fry with stuff on hand...voila!
 2. Vanilla Bean Scones
 3. Eggplant Risotto

Weed out my recipe stash.
Cleaned out recipe box & small accordion folder.  More to go...

Blog once a week, even if I have nothing to say.  Wednesdays!  Here I am – a little late but I have shown up.

Participate in one holiday craft fair, probably November 2020.  Too soon.

Go through each craft and art magazine (!! There are lots!!) and list all the projects that I want to try.    Not yet

In line with the previous goal, go through my craft stash and list each project I have started that has fallen by the wayside and finish them.  Off the top of my head, scrapbook for my daughter; more work with resin; braided basket; paint rocks; sew; rose needlepoint, etc.   Started but not finished.

Make Christmas cards for 2020.  Putting together some ideas

Have 50 mini dates with MHN - nope

Take a long weekend getaway with my daughter.  We’re talking ideas, both for weekend getaway and a real vacation which won’t be for a while.
